This talk will take a look at manuscript and print traditions in the Himalaya and in South Asia. It will provide an introduction to traditional artisanal practice and the significance of the material object in the context of Buddhist spirituality. It will examine the papers, inks, colors, wood and tools utilized and glimpse into the world of the maker and see what efforts are being undertaken to preserve both ancient texts and the traditional ways of working.

This program and subsequent lectures in the series are free to all members of either MRCG or CACG. You do not need to live in the Midwest or in the Chicago area to be a member of MRCG or CACG.
