The International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) launched a twelve-year programme to promote conservation in Latin America and the Caribbean. The LATAM programme is aimed at improving and strengthening capacities for conservation, enhancing communication and exchange and increasing awareness in the region. At the launch meeting, held in Colombia on 14-17 July, five priorities were identified for the first phase of the programme (2008-11), including conservation education and training, risk management, and the illicit traffic of cultural heritage. More information can be found on the LATAM website.
